DC’s Biggest Change in Years

The world of Batman has changed more in the past three years than in arguably the decade, or decades before it. But if fans thought this turmoil would be replaced by peace, or a return to ‘normal’… the biggest changes to Bruce Wayne’s character will be coming to DC Comics in 2020.

That’s when Tom King hands the flagship book to new Batman writer James Tynion IV, having ushered in all of the above changes. While DC’s Rebirth led other books and creators to ‘return to their roots,’ King followed the example of his predecessor Scott Snyder, taking the opportunity to challenge Bruce Wayne along with his readers by asking a question few before dared to: could Batman ever be happy? King’s final issues and his Batman/Catwoman series will give the answer, but as further evidence his early Batman e...

What Happened to Superman

What happened to Superman‘s son, Jonathan Kent, in the comics? The Arrowverse is preparing to take Tyler Hoechlin’s Man of Steel in a direction that’s never been seen before on either the big or small screen. Supergirl season 4 saw Superman and his partner Lois Lane head to the Kryptonian city of Kandor, with Lois pregnant with a half-Kryptonian child. Excalibur’s Invader Has Been Coming

Warning: SPOILERS for Excalibur #1

The X-Men‘s new mutant nation was invaded by a mystical force in Excalibur #1 – and it could be a very familiar foe. Jonathan Hickman’s X-Men relaunch has seen the X-Men establish a mutant nation on the living island of Krakoa. And it hasn’t taken long for Krakoa to come under attack.

To the X-Men’s surprise, the first invader appears to be a mystical force originating from a realm called Otherworld. A mysterious portal has opened between Otherworld and Krakoa, and Apocalypse persuaded Rogue to attempt to drain power from it. Too late, the X-Men realized that there was some sort of entity inside the portal, a mystical being that was seeking a host. It’s left Rogue comatose, her body apparently transmutating. Disturbingly, Excalibur #1 subtly hints th...

Batman Villain Phantasm Is Coming

Phantasm is heading to DC Comics, as Tom King will bring the villain into the main continuity in his Batman/Catwoman series. King got his start with DC on Batman back in 2016, as part of their DC Rebirth relaunch. In the over three years of work he’s delivered, King has created several big storylines and a few that were met with great pushback from readers, such as a much discussed wedding with Catwoman.

Despite some controversial moments, King’s run with the Dark Knight has been highly praised, which is why it came as a surprise a few weeks ago when news surfaced that his run was going to be ending sooner than expected. King previously set out to tell a 100-issue tale about Batman, but it was revealed that it’ll end after issue #85...
