That Thomas Wayne Twist

 That Thomas Wayne Twist

The following story contains a MAJOR SPOILER for Joker. If you haven’t seen the film, go check it out, and then come back to read the details.

When we first meet the character of Thomas Wayne in Joker, it feels like’s meant to only help reinforce the comic book world of Gotham City. The man is rich and running for mayor, about as far removed from the world that Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) lives in as possible.

While there is a connection between the two, Arthur’s mother once worked for the Wayne family, the movie takes a pretty significant change in direction when Arthur learns that he might actually be the illegitimate son of Thomas Wayne...

'Rick and Morty' Return

‘Rick and Morty’ Return

Yes it’s been a very long time since fans have gotten their fix of Rick and Morty, but a brand-new trailer (watch it above!) finally confirms the return of Adult Swim’s signature series. The show returns on November 10 with the first of five episodes — as it appears Season 4 is being broken up into two five-episode chunks. But hey: New episodes! It’s better than nothing! Szechuan sauce shots for all!

These are the first episodes of the 70 coming in the years ahead, as Adult Swim renewed the beloved series for seven more seasons back in May of 2018. Creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, and as you can see from the trailer, they’re definitely not holding anything back this time around.

Five new episodes of Rick and Morty start on November 10 at 11:30...

Bully 2 Rockstar Cancelled The Game

A sequel to the open-world game Bully was apparently in the works but scrapped after over a year of development. Developed by Rockstar Games, who recently announced a PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2, the original Bully saw players taking on the role of a young man named Jimmy as he explored the fictional Bullworth Academy, a boarding school in England, while making friends and enemies with jocks, nerds, and homeless karate teachers.

While not as great a success as Rockstar’s more popular franchises like Grand Theft Auto, Bully developed a cult following over the next few years and even received a special edition titled Bully: Scholarship Edition. Although recent GTA Online rumors have hinted that a sequel to Bully might be under development, unfortunately reports have now surface...

Actor Josh Brolin Gives Joker

Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix set out to make something different with Joker. They wanted to make a comic book movie grounded in reality. Phoenix warned fans early on that his take on the Clown Prince of Crime was going to be more of a character study than anything else. So far, the reviews have been mixed. Some are all on board for the new take on the iconic villain, while others aren’t into it at all. Thanos actor Josh Brolin feels that Joker is an excellent movie with a lot to say.

Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War fully introduced Josh Brolin’s Thanos to the world. The first installment was basically his movie, as the Mad Titan sought to bring balance to the universe. Audiences were given the chance to side with the villain and see where he’s truly coming from...

1917 Trailer #2 Brings World War I

Universal Pictures has released a new trailer for the upcoming World War I epic <a href=”https://movieweb.com/movie/1917/” class=”movie”>1917. This is the latest from Sam Mendes (Skyfall, American Beauty) and the filmmaker has truly outdone himself this time. Not only is he taking on some harrowing subject matter with a stacked cast, but he’s decided to make it appear as though all of these events will unfold in a single, continuous shot that lasts for two hours. Safe to say, this could prove to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen.

The trailer debuted during the movie’s panel at New York Comic-Con and was promptly released online after. The footage, though not presented as a single shot, is excruciatingly tense and undeniably grand in scope...

Suits Should Have Ended

Suits survived all the way to season 9, but it really should’ve ended at the end of season 7. USA Network’s legal drama had a satisfying finale, one that made all long-time fans of the show happy. However, considering how we all got to this point, it would’ve been for the best if the series wrapped up a couple of seasons earlier.

A lot happened in Suits‘ final hour. Harvey (Gabriel Macht) and the rest of his allies finally got rid of the season-long villain, Faye Richardson (Denise Crosby). There were two weddings, a birth, and a promise of new beginnings for all of the show’s key players. After years of devoting his time being the best closer in New York, Harvey and his new bride Donna, decided to join Mike (Patrick J...

Homages to Movies and Comics

The following post contains SPOILERS and Easter Eggs for Joker. We’re not being funny about this.

The new Joker movie tells a completely original interpretation of the Batman villain’s origin. This Joker (Joaquin Phoenix) is named Arthur Fleck, and he’s a struggling clown and aspiring standup comic who begins to lose his mind when Gotham City cuts off his access to his medication just as he’s beset by a series of personal tragedies. But if you think Joker doesn’t include references to DC Comics, the joke’s on you. In fact, it does contain several very pointed callbacks to classic Batman comics — along with a ton of homages to previous movies, particularly the works of Martin Scorsese (who was supposed to be an executive producer of Joker, once...

Kevin Smith reveals plans underway for Clerks III…again

The lifespan of the Clerks saga has been a thing of mystery, as writer/director Kevin Smith has discussed his finished script time and again while waiting for every main cast member and funding to come through. Though the project was reportedly dead in the water as of 2017, it appears the wheels are in motion once more as Smith took to Instagram to reveal his talks with Jeff Anderson and Jason Mewes to return for one final installment.

“I spent Saturday signing stuff and catching up, seeing so much movie merch that’s been made over the last 25 years! But even better than that? We talked about making a movie together. It’ll be a movie that concludes a saga...

Which R-Rated Movie Dominated

Last week Todd Philips, the director of Joker, made a comparison between his film and the popular, and violent, John Wick franchise. While the two movies certainly have a lot of differences between them, both John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and Joker are two R-rated movies from 2019 that had, and have, a lot of anticipation behind them, but which was the more in-demand film? Based on ticket pre-sales it looks like John Wick is edging out Joker, but only just.

According to Atom Tickets, Joker has the second most ticket pre-sales for an R-rated movie for this year, at this point before release. It’s trailing John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, but is tracking ahead of other popular R-rated movies this year like IT: Chapter Two, and Us.

That’s a ...
